Instead of only saying “I wake up” or “I go to work”, you will learn phrases like snooze the alarm, run errands, take a break, and from time to time.

Natural English Note 🌿

In English, we usually say have breakfast and have lunch. For evening meals, we say have dinner. These phrases are very natural when describing daily routines.

💡 Notice the possessive form: brush my teeth, check my phone,

Natural routine verbs and everyday habits

Important Correction ✅

The most natural phrase is set the alarm, not usually set up the alarm. We use set up more often for installing or organising something, like set up an account or set up a meeting.

Use frequency adverbs to explain how often you do something.

Word Order 🧩

Frequency adverbs usually go before the main verb:

Subject + frequency adverb + verb

I usually wake up at 7. She never drinks coffee at night. But with the verb be, the adverb usually goes after it: He is always tired in the morning.

These expressions make your routine descriptions more natural and varied.

💡 Once in a blue moon and at the crack of dawn are idiomatic and expressive. They are useful, but students do not need to use them in every conversation.

Conversation Tip 🌿

To make the conversation more natural, add a follow-up question: What time do you usually wake up? Really? Is that early for you?

Negative Sentences ❌

Use don’t and doesn’t to talk about things you do not do.

Basic Rule

Use don’t with I, you, we, they. Use doesn’t with he, she, it.
